When I was offered a job on the other side of the country, I agreed immediately.
The new position included a more prestigious title, significant raise and better benefits. Plus, I saw potential for upward mobility. Although I love the Jacksonville, Florida, area and was reluctant to relocate, it was an exciting opportunity to experience new scenery. However, I needed to sell my house quickly. I bought the house with the intention of fixing it up and selling it for a property. I liked the neighborhood due to close proximity to the shops and restaurants in Avondale. I was within walking distance of the St. Johns river. I was able to afford such a prime piece of real estate because the house needed some major renovations. While it passed a four-point inspection for electrical, plumbing, HVAC and roofing systems, everything else was horribly outdated. All of the appliances in the kitchen and laundry were at least twenty years old. There was very unattractive wallpaper on the walls and old plush carpeting on the floors. Even the light fixtures detracted from the decor. Unfortunately, my job kept me busy enough that I never did more than clean the house. I knew that attracting a buyer would take some time and patience. I’d need to list with a realtor and endure showings. I assumed that a buyer would have some demands that would require expensive repairs, hiring professionals and lots of time. I was in a hurry to pack up, drive across the country and figure out new living arrangements. I decided to contact one of the companies that buys homes for cash. The process was quick, easy and totally stress-free. I was able to close on the Jacksonville property in ten days.
